PC peripherals are infrequently stylish. They typically focus on simplicity in design and function, or, as is the case with many gaming keyboards and mouse, go all out with enough RGB lights to light up a Christmas tree. However, there are times when you want a mouse that is both aesthetically beautiful and practical, and Logitech’s POP range of computer peripherals is dedicated to giving just that. The Logitech POP Mouse ($40) is a stylish wireless mouse that should appeal to casual PC and Mac users who want their hardware to reflect their individuality, but it is quite pricey for what it offers.
The Design
As is the case with its companion, the $100 Logitech POP Keys Keyboard, the POP Mouse is difficult to ignore on a desk. Available in three distinct colour schemes, the wireless mouse’s eye-catching hues may be enough to convince some. There’s Daydream (mint, lilac, and yellow); our review unit’s Blast scheme (black, grey, and yellow); and Heartbreaker (black, grey, and yellow) (Neon coral and raspberry red). These vivid selections correspond with those available for the keyboard, allowing you to create a coordinated, loud design for your workspace. Logitech also provides a $140 bundle of the two peripherals, although this does not represent a savings over purchasing them separately.
The POP Mouse weighs 2.8 ounces and measures 1.3 by 2.3 by 4.1 inches (HWD), making it nearly equal in size to other no-frills wireless mice such as Microsoft’s Ocean Plastic Mouse or Logitech’s own Pebble M350 mouse, and it performs just as expected. The left and right buttons are separated by a little gap in the centre of the mouse, with the scroll wheel and an additional macro button occupying the remaining space.
The rounded sides make it extremely comfortable in your hand, and two curved rubber grips on the underside allow for effortless glide on any surface. Additionally, there is a power switch and a Bluetooth button for switching between three synced devices. The entire function is powered by a single supplied AA battery, which is accessed by lifting the mouse’s top half.
