CBD Cream For Bone Pain – Does It Work?

Bone

Millions of Americans suffer from bone discomfort. It is possible to suffer joint pain from hundreds of factors, including the environment, genetics, and physiological factors.

Sometimes over-the-counter pain relievers aren’t enough to alleviate the pain and enable you to continue your everyday activities. This is where CBD cream comes to the rescue.

If you experience chronic pain, chances are you could consider CBD as a therapy option. Marijuana contains CBD and delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), and other compounds. On the other hand, CBD is non “psychoactive,” meaning it does not create intoxication or a high as THC does.

There’s a strong possibility you’ve already tried it. According to a Gallup survey conducted in August 2019, over 14% of Americans use CBD products, with pain being the most common cause.

The Arthritis Foundation conducted its survey, revealing that 29% of participants were now taking CBD (primarily in liquid or topical form).

Almost 80% were already taking CBD, had taken it previously, or were contemplating it. Most people who used it said it improved their physical function, sleep, and overall well-being; however, just a small percentage said it helped with pain or stiffness.

Arthritis Pain, And What You Need To Know About It

It’s important to know that there are over 100 different forms of arthritis, and while all of them cause pain, they don’t all operate the same way. And what helps one person might not work for someone else. It is the goal of the treatment of arthritis to minimize pain and stiffness while preserving function.

However, traditional prescription medicines are strongly recommended for specific disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis, since they help avoid chronic joint damage and severe disability. Furthermore, different people perceive pain and react to therapy in various ways. As a result, finding a CBD-containing solution that works for everyone with any form of arthritis is exceedingly improbable.

Why Use CBD Cream?

Why would you pick CBD cream over tablets, tinctures, and other CBD products on the market? CBD cream was created specifically to alleviate localized pain and discomfort, such as osteoarthritis and joint pain.

Inflammation often targets tissue beneath the skin, so the skin provides the quickest path to those tissues or cartilage. A CBD capsule must travel via your digestive system to be effective. This can take a long time, particularly if you’ve recently eaten.

While the benefits may last longer, CBD is more widely distributed through the system, making it less useful for alleviating localized pain. Through the subcutaneous layer, CBD cream can penetrate through blood vessels directly into the affected area.

How Does CBD Work For Pain?

What exactly is CBD’s mechanism of action? CBD is one of the cannabinoids found in Cannabis. Almost 100 cannabinoids are present in marijuana, and our bodies also produce some, known as endocannabinoids.

Cannabinoids interact with the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the nervous system. CBD doesn’t directly interact with our cannabinoid receptors, unlike its cousin, THC. While scientists are more or less unsure how CBD interacts with the neurological system, it is undeniably effective as a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory.

Specific proteins invoke inflammation by activating immune cells to increase vasodilation and blood flow. Swelling, discomfort, and redness are all symptoms of inflammation. It’s a protective measure, although an unpleasant one. There is evidence that CBD reduces inflammation by suppressing this immune response.

CBD is also a vasodilator, which means it won’t cut off vital blood supply to the affected area; it just decreases inflammation and modulates the body’s pain sensation.

The Evidence behind CBD’s Effectiveness for Chronic Bone Pain

Although laboratory studies indicate CBD might be an effective treatment for chronic arthritis pain, and animal studies have demonstrated anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects, there are no well-designed studies showing its safety and effectiveness in humans. An abstract of a randomized trial using topical CBD for osteoarthritis of the knee was published, but it is only a preliminary report summarizing what was learned; A 12-week trial was conducted, and the results were mixed at best.

One of the most comprehensive studies focused on the health impacts of Cannabis and CBD and found strong evidence that Cannabis imay be an effective therapy for persistent pain in adults. But there was no clear finding on CBD, possibly because of the lack of reliable data.

Of course, there’s plenty of anecdotal data and testimonials, including claims of great pain relief from patients who tried CBD in various forms (capsules, liquids, topicals, and sprays). However, well-designed, scientifically credible, and rigorous clinical trials, such as this one, are still necessary to address the issue of whether CBD can benefit persons with chronic arthritic pain.

Conclusion

If you’re considering CBD treatment for chronic arthritic pain or are already using it, discuss the benefits, drawbacks, and current news with your healthcare professional to come up with a suitable treatment regimen together. Even if you use CBD products to relieve arthritis pain, it may be important to keep taking your conventional, prescribed medications as well. Although there isn’t as much data as we’d want, it’s worth exploring if CBD may effectively relieve your discomfort.
